A Guide to Downloading
There are a squillion reading devices – PC, Mac, Kindle, Kobo, Nook, Mobipocket, iphone, android… the list goes on. Please note that the following is simply a guide, nothing more. For more detailed information you may need to search the internet, etc.
Which File do I want? (epub, mobi, pdf…???)
Most readers will read more than one file type. At the time of this writing, the Amazon Kindle could read .azw3, .mobi, .prc, .azw1, .tpz, .pdf and .txt However, naturally it was designed to read its native .azw3 as a first choice. Most readers / devices are like this, and newer models may be even more flexible. Not only that, most have free aps that will allow you to read any file-type you want. Here is a short list that will no doubt change with time:
KINDLE = AZW3 (Also supports MOBI, PRC, AZW1, TPZ, PDF and TXT)
KOBO = EPUB (Also supports PDF, MOBI, RTF, CBZ, CBR, and TXT)
NOOK = EPUB (Also supports PDF)
The simplest rule is that each e-book reader’s preferred format will give the best formatting.
And remember, aps are available to allow most readers and devices to read any file you want.
